Samsung Enters U.S. Credit Market With Barclays-Issued Visa Card
Samsung Electronics America is launching its first credit card in the United States, a move designed to tether its hardware ecosystem directly to financial services. Issued by Barclays on the Visa network, the card integrates immediately into Samsung Wallet to incentivize brand loyalty through tiered cash-back rewards on everyday spending.

Woncheol Chai, head of Samsung's digital wallet team, described the launch as an evolution of the company’s mobile payment strategy. By provisioning the card directly into Samsung Wallet, the firm aims to streamline the user experience for both routine errands and high-ticket hardware upgrades. Barclays, which manages the program, views the partnership as a strategic expansion of its U.S. digital banking footprint, leveraging its co-brand expertise to integrate financial tools into the existing Samsung interface. Applications open to the public on July 22 via the company’s website.
