WaterField Designs Launches Wrinkle-Resistant Packable Messenger

San Francisco-based WaterField Designs has introduced the Packable Messenger, a six-liter shoulder bag engineered to solve the common issue of rumpled aesthetics in lightweight travel gear. By utilizing a custom water-resistant Taslan textile, the bag maintains a crisp, structured appearance even after being compressed into its own internal storage pocket.

The new messenger bag is designed for travelers and commuters who require a secondary carry option that does not sacrifice professional appearance for portability. Weighing only 0.66 pounds, the bag features waterproof zippers and a high-contrast gray-silver interior lining to improve visibility of contents. Its primary compartment is supplemented by an elevated front pocket intended for quick access to everyday essentials like phones, wallets, and keys.

Founder Gary Waterfield noted that the design intent was to provide a compact solution that remains appropriate for varied environments, ranging from business meetings to casual market errands. The bag, priced at $129, joins an existing collection of packable backpacks and duffels. It is available in five colors—black, burnt orange, gray, navy, and olive—and is currently shipping from the company’s San Francisco workshop.
