The project centers on a new line capable of processing 475 tonnes of roundwood per hour, handling both softwood and hardwood logs. The installation includes a trunnion-design debarking drum and a Valmet Disc Chipper Carthage, equipment designed to minimize wood loss while maximizing chip consistency. According to Dick Carmical, CEO of The Price Companies, the upgrade is intended to secure a reliable, high-quality material flow for customers, reinforcing the firm's position as a major independent wood yard operator in North America.

Valmet to Expand Wood Processing Capacity for The Price Companies
The Price Companies has tapped Finnish technology firm Valmet to install a high-capacity wood handling line at its Pine Bluff facility in Arkansas. This expansion aims to bolster the regional supply chain for pulp and paperboard production by integrating advanced debarking and chipping systems into the existing operation.
Tiago Silveira, a senior sales manager at Valmet, noted that the deal builds on a long-standing relationship between the two companies. While the financial terms of the contract remain undisclosed, the order was booked in Valmet’s second quarter of 2026. The new machinery is scheduled to begin operations in November 2028, supporting The Price Companies' broader efforts to maintain sustainable fiber solutions across their multiple sites.
