QDSC Rebrands as CypherGenics to Tackle Quantum-Era Security

The transition marks an attempt to move away from traditional public key infrastructure (PKI), which the firm identifies as both obsolete and overly complex for modern, highly distributed environments. By utilizing a fully symmetric methodology, CypherGenics claims its encryption operates 100 times faster than standard PKI alternatives. This approach allows enterprises to secure low-powered microcontrollers, sensors, and operational technology without the need for expensive hardware overhauls.

William Arbaugh, president of CypherGenics, noted that existing security architectures are currently ill-equipped to handle the convergence of quantum threats and the sheer scale of connected devices. Strategic advisor John N. Stewart emphasized that the platform focuses on real-world utility, aiming to simplify authentication in environments where replacing existing infrastructure is not financially or operationally feasible. With the cybersecurity landscape nearing a critical inflection point, the company intends to position its platform as a practical solution for utilities, government agencies, and large enterprises bracing for the post-quantum era.
