Bluecore Energy Secures $10M to Deploy Floating Nuclear Reactors
A 10-million-dollar infusion led by Slauson & Co. is fueling Bluecore Energy’s attempt to place small modular nuclear reactors on barges. Founded by former Uber Freight executive Kofi Asante, the startup aims to dock these floating power plants near ports and data centers to provide localized, carbon-free electricity.

Bluecore is currently prioritizing safety validation and regulatory engagement. The firm has already acquired a test reactor pressure vessel and a terminal to simulate water-flow dynamics and refine its hardware-software integration. Beyond industrial applications, Asante views the technology as a potential solution for the surging energy demands of AI data centers, which could bypass local grid constraints by tapping into these offshore power sources. The pre-seed round also drew participation from Harlem Capital, Precursor Ventures, and notable backers including Chris Larsen and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Ventures.
