Dove Men+Care Turns World Cup Tears into a Global Conversation

“Football is one of the few places where men's tears are met with celebration instead of judgment,” says Louis Piereck, Global Head of Brand at Dove Men+Care. The company is now leveraging that cultural permission to express emotion through a new campaign that elevates raw, unscripted fan photography from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Dove Men+Care Turns World Cup Tears into a Global Conversation

In collaboration with Getty Images, the brand has curated a series of portraits titled "Portraits of Care." These images capture unfiltered reactions—joy, grief, relief, and heartbreak—witnessed during the tournament’s final matches. By displaying these scenes on digital billboards across the U.S., U.K., Spain, and Brazil, the campaign attempts to bridge the gap between the stadium’s emotional safety and the wider social stigma often attached to male vulnerability.

Piereck notes that these photographs are strictly documentary rather than staged, serving as a catalyst for a broader dialogue on why society remains comfortable with male emotional expression in sports while frequently questioning it in daily life. Following the tournament, the conversation will transition to social media, where Dove Men+Care plans to pair the portraits with personal stories to encourage a more consistent standard of authenticity for men beyond the final whistle.
