US Latino economy hits $4.4 trillion, outpacing global growth

If the U.S. Latino economy were an independent nation, it would rank as the world's fourth-largest, fueled by a $2.8 trillion consumer market. New data from the Latino Donor Collaborative and Arizona State University reveals this demographic now accounts for 28.2% of total U.S. economic growth.

US Latino economy hits $4.4 trillion, outpacing global growth

The 2026 LDC U.S. Latino Economic Impact Report highlights a shift in the domestic landscape, as Latino household consumption has grown nearly three times faster than that of non-Latino households since 2019. This purchasing power now exceeds the individual markets of Germany and India, positioning the group as a primary driver of national demand. By 2025, the community accounted for 92.6% of all new households formed, significantly bolstering the labor force and entrepreneurial activity.

While California and Texas remain primary hubs with economies reaching $1.1 trillion and $820 billion respectively, the influence is spreading to states like North Carolina and New Jersey. Sol Trujillo, chairman of the Latino Donor Collaborative, argues that companies and policymakers must pivot from outdated demographic-focused narratives to prioritize these economic performance metrics. As the broader U.S. population growth slows, the relative youth of the Latino workforce provides a critical buffer, offering a stable and expanding domestic marketplace for businesses willing to adapt their strategies.
