Cristina Diaz Joins Crowell & Moring’s Financial Services Group

At Crowell, Diaz will advise a diverse roster of banks, fintech companies, and digital asset firms. Her practice will focus on the technical intersection of traditional banking and emerging technologies, covering areas such as charter licensing, capital requirements, and corporate governance. She will specifically assist clients attempting to navigate federal and state regulatory hurdles, including digital asset firms looking to establish national bank status.

Before this appointment, Diaz served as head of legal for UBS’s U.S. Remediation Management Office, where she managed significant regulatory matters, including the conversion of UBS Bank USA from a Utah industrial bank to an OCC national bank. Her background also includes an eight-year tenure at Davis Polk & Wardwell, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of both private practice and in-house regulatory strategy. Carlton Greene, co-chair of the firm’s Financial Services Group, noted that Diaz’s specific experience with bank charters and enforcement actions makes her a strategic addition to their expanding practice.
