Evogene and ELEO Partner to Develop Oral PCSK9 Inhibitors
Israel-based Evogene and South Korean biotech firm ELEO have launched a strategic collaboration to engineer next-generation oral small-molecule inhibitors for the PCSK9 pathway. By merging generative artificial intelligence with biological screening, the companies aim to address the limitations of existing injectable therapies for hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular disease.
Under the agreement, Evogene will deploy its proprietary ChemPass AI platform to design and optimize chemical structures, while ELEO will apply its expertise in natural product pharmacology and target validation to refine the candidates. The companies intend to advance these molecules through preclinical development with an eye toward future licensing deals and partnerships with major pharmaceutical entities.
