The initiative adds Bursa Malaysia to the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong’s list of recognized exchanges, enabling Malaysian companies to seek secondary listings in the city. This expansion marks the fourth Southeast Asian market to join the roster, following Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Starting in September, issuers pursuing simultaneous listings will benefit from a simplified submission process, requiring only a single document set.
Beyond equity listings, the collaboration broadens the scope of mutual fund recognition to include exchange-traded funds—covering leveraged, inverse, commodity, and futures-based products—alongside cross-listed real estate investment trusts. To ensure regulatory alignment, the Securities Commission Malaysia also signed an audit oversight agreement with Hong Kong’s Accounting and Financial Reporting Council.
