Ford and Geely Launch Manufacturing Joint Venture in Spain
Ford Motor Company and Geely Auto have announced a strategic joint venture to transform Ford’s Valencia plant into a shared manufacturing hub. The partnership aims to lower production costs and scale vehicle output, with plans to produce a new generation of multi-energy passenger vehicles for the European market starting in 2028.
Operations are slated to begin in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approval. The production pipeline includes an all-new Ford multi-energy crossover, a new variant within the Bronco family, and two electric SUVs under the Geely brand. During this transition, the facility will continue to produce the Ford Kuga uninterrupted. This collaboration builds on a historical relationship between the two automakers that dates back to Ford’s 2010 sale of Volvo to Geely, aiming to combine engineering expertise to deliver vehicles tailored for local European preferences.
