DC Young Fly Brings High-Stakes Spelling to YouTube

Spelling bees usually belong in quiet school auditoriums, but a new competition series is dragging the dictionary into the arena. Premiering August 11 on YouTube, The Spell Off LIVE! replaces academic silence with the rowdy energy of comedians, athletes, and digital creators competing for charitable causes under the bright stage lights.

DC Young Fly Brings High-Stakes Spelling to YouTube

Hosted and executive produced by comedy personality DC Young Fly, the series transforms a familiar classroom staple into a pressure-packed event. The format relies on escalating challenges designed to test more than just vocabulary; success requires composure and sharp wit as contestants face off in a high-energy environment. Funny Marco joins the production as a remote host, roaming the streets of Atlanta to bridge the gap between the stage and the audience with unpredictable, social-first segments.

This marks the inaugural project from EightState Studios, founded by entrepreneur Adam Wexler, in collaboration with Deviants Media. The production team brings extensive experience from major television hits including Hollywood Game Night and The Voice, aiming to capture a summer audience looking for fresh, communal viewing. Winners of each round direct donations to educational non-profits, ensuring the competition functions as both a spectacle and a fundraising vehicle.
