The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration identified the issue, noting that the harness sustains damage over time. This degradation can generate sufficient heat or electrical arcing to ignite surrounding materials. The safety campaign encompasses 565,691 units in total.

To address the fault, Ford dealerships will install protective sheathing over the exposed wiring at no expense to vehicle owners. The manufacturer plans to begin notifying affected drivers through correspondence starting August 24.
