Florida Opens First Dedicated Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Center
Children and families gathered in Jacksonville to explore the newly inaugurated Dorion Family Pediatric Center, a facility designed to provide specialized hospice and palliative care. The open house offered patients their first look at a space built specifically to foster healing, connection, and play outside of a traditional clinical environment.
Phillip Ward, president and CEO of the organization, noted that the facility was built with the family experience at the center of every architectural decision. Beyond medical treatment, the building includes an Outdoor Sanctuary, the Tree of Wonder, and creative arts rooms intended to allow children to experience childhood despite their health challenges. This physical hub now works alongside established home-based and hospital care to provide a comprehensive support network for families navigating complex health journeys.
