Siemens and NVIDIA expand partnership to automate semiconductor design

Siemens is integrating NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure with its own electronic design automation tools to create self-verifying agentic workflows. By combining physics-based software with advanced reasoning models, the collaboration aims to move semiconductor and PCB engineering teams beyond simple automation toward continuously validated, autonomous design processes.

The expansion centers on the Fuse EDA AI Agent system, now integrated into Siemens' Intelligence Center X. This environment allows engineers to orchestrate complex tasks across the entire design, manufacturing, and supply chain lifecycle. By leveraging NVIDIA’s NeMo Gym and Nemotron models, the system enables agents to reason through engineering trade-offs and validate decisions against deterministic, physics-based engines in real time.

This shift addresses a growing productivity crisis in hardware verification, where complex AI chips and 3D ICs have outpaced traditional methods. For instance, the Solido Characterization Suite, now enhanced with agentic capabilities, reports a tenfold reduction in characterization turnaround times and significant savings in token costs for memory and custom IP libraries. The new tools, including the Solido Layout Analyzer, allow engineers to identify layout-dependent effects earlier in the development cycle, potentially cutting debugging time by weeks. These capabilities will be rolled out in upcoming releases of the Siemens AI-native EDA portfolio.
