BAUHAUS Automates Krefeld Warehouse Logistics with XYZ Robotics
In a move to modernize its European distribution network, BAUHAUS has deployed a fleet of mobile manipulation robots at its Krefeld central warehouse. The system, developed by XYZ Robotics, handles the entire inbound workflow—from unloading loose cartons inside shipping containers to stacking shelf-ready pallets—without human intervention.
Beyond technical throughput, the transition addresses significant human factor challenges. Manual unloading in confined, temperature-variable environments is physically taxing, often resulting in high staff turnover and safety risks. By shifting personnel to tablet-based system supervision, the company has observed improved operational consistency. Torsten Winter, Vice President of Operations for BAHAG / BAUHAUS AG, noted that the system has operated around the clock since its launch, prompting the retailer to evaluate further integration across its 290-store European network. XYZ Robotics now plans to scale its local support teams to facilitate broader deployment for regional distribution operators.
