Munich Taps CGI to Overhaul Municipal Digital Infrastructure
After two decades of partnership, the City of Munich has selected IT consultancy firm CGI to lead the next phase of its digital transformation. The mandate focuses on streamlining administrative workflows, enhancing citizen-facing digital services, and reinforcing the municipality's technological sovereignty through a scalable, cross-European delivery model.
Dr. Laura Sophie Dornheim, Munich’s CDO and IT Director, emphasized that the city requires a partner capable of balancing administrative efficiency with the responsible use of public resources. Dirk Kiefer, Vice-President Consulting Expert at CGI, noted that the objective is to integrate secure, end-to-end digital processes directly into the daily practices of the municipal government. This approach aims to provide high-quality services for residents while ensuring the city maintains control over its core technological infrastructure.
