Blue Shield of California Secures Top Disability Inclusion Ranking
Marking Disability Pride Month, Blue Shield of California has secured the status of World’s Top Disability Inclusive Business on the 2026 Disability Index. The nonprofit health plan earned the honor by achieving a top score in an evaluation of corporate accessibility, internal culture, and leadership commitment.

Frank Caporusso, senior vice president of Healthcare Quality and Affordability Operations, attributed the success to a collective effort among staff and partners to prioritize accessibility. Ellen Sexton, who chairs the insurer’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Council, emphasized that the initiative is central to the firm's broader mission of redesigning healthcare. By embedding inclusive practices into its internal operations, the organization aims to improve outcomes for its nearly 6 million members across the state.
