Juniper Square Debuts Fay to Automate Fund Administration Oversight

Manual reviews of fund deliverables are a persistent source of friction and error for private markets firms. Juniper Square is now attempting to solve this with Fay, an AI-powered agent designed to automatically audit financial statements and capital account documents before they reach the desks of auditors or investors.

Juniper Square Debuts Fay to Automate Fund Administration Oversight

The tool, officially titled the Admin Oversight Agent, processes financial statements, partner capital account statements, and supporting workbooks to perform over 150 accuracy and consistency checks. By identifying discrepancies like footing errors or mismatched figures across quarters, the system aims to reduce the time spent on manual reviews by roughly 80%. Michael Megaw, SVP of Enterprise Platforms at Juniper Square, noted that the agent replaces error-prone manual processes with expert-level oversight, protecting the fiduciary relationship between general partners and their investors.

The technology relies on a hybrid architecture: AI extracts figures and identifies patterns, while deterministic code handles the underlying math to ensure consistency. Originally developed as an internal tool to manage the company's own $300 billion in assets, the agent is now available to any general partner, regardless of their chosen fund administrator. Because the system integrates directly with the GPX platform, it leverages existing entity structures and prior-period data to provide automated validation without requiring complex setup or new data onboarding.
