The financing round, co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Cedars-Sinai Intellectual Property Co., arrives as global health authorities warn that antimicrobial resistance could contribute to 39 million deaths between 2025 and 2050. Currently, clinicians often rely on broad-spectrum antibiotics while awaiting multi-day culture results. Vivid Dx seeks to bypass this delay by isolating pathogens directly from blood, using proprietary spectral databases to provide faster, targeted treatment insights.

To oversee this transition from technical proof-of-concept to clinical validation, the company has appointed Keith O'Neill as CEO. O'Neill brings 25 years of experience in diagnostics, including a recent tenure at Novus Diagnostics. The platform has already shown promise in preclinical testing, recording approximately 99% accuracy in pathogen identification and 92% concordance with gold-standard antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods. The company is now preparing to test its technology with patient-derived samples to demonstrate its viability in complex hospital environments.
