Lamar Johnson Awarded New Toyota for Educational Leadership

The ceremony, held Wednesday, marked the third consecutive year the Hialeah dealership has honored the district’s top administrator with a three-year vehicle lease. Judy L. Farcus Serra, the dealership’s CFO, emphasized that the award serves to highlight educators who act as catalysts for the next generation of community leaders. For Johnson, the recognition serves as a testament to the collaborative culture he has fostered at Liberty City Elementary, where he helped elevate the school’s performance from a 'C' to an 'A' grade.

Johnson’s career spans 18 years within the district, moving from a math instructional coach to a principal who prioritizes student confidence. His tenure has been defined by initiatives like the Lion Bucks Program, which incentivizes academic achievement and positive behavior. A product of the Miami-Dade system himself, Johnson previously received the 2025 FIU Community Schools Principal of the Year award. He attributed the school's recent success to his staff, noting that student growth is a direct result of teachers who lead with purpose and bold collaboration.
