Tennessee GOP Forces Through Congressional Map Amidst Outcry

This legislative maneuver follows a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that weakened the 1965 Voting Rights Act, a decision that has triggered similar redistricting efforts across the South, including in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. Critics, including the ACLU of Tennessee, have labeled the map a "Jim Crow" instrument designed to dilute the political power of communities of color.
