LinkedIn launches AI-slop reporting to clean up the feed

Users can now flag posts as AI-generated slop, a direct response to the rising tide of low-quality, automated content cluttering the professional network. This new button serves as a diagnostic tool, feeding data back into LinkedIn’s classification systems to help the platform distinguish between authentic human insight and synthetic filler.

Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan acknowledged that preserving the platform’s integrity is a top priority, noting that members visit the site specifically to engage with real people and genuine expertise. Beyond the new report button, LinkedIn is aggressively scaling its automated defenses. The company currently blocks hundreds of thousands of bot-driven comment attempts every single day, with millions of similar unauthorized automation attempts thwarted over the past few months.

To further refine the user experience, LinkedIn is rolling out improved classifiers designed to suppress low-quality content in algorithmic recommendations. Creators whose posts are frequently flagged will receive private notifications, aimed at helping them adjust their use of AI tools. In a strategic pivot, the company is also sunsetting its own generative “enhance your post” feature. This is being replaced by a proofreading tool that focuses on grammar and clarity rather than rewriting a user’s voice, signaling a broader industry retreat from unbridled AI content generation.
