The capital injection includes backing from a broad syndicate of investors, including First Round Capital, 645 Ventures, Harlem Capital, Khosla Ventures, Thrive Capital, Slow Capital, Kearny Jackson, and Ariel Alternatives CEO Mellody Hobson. Ryan Williams pivots to private credit automation with $10M for Ellis AI
After building the real estate platform Cadre into an $800 million business, founder Ryan Williams is surfacing from stealth with a $10 million seed round for Ellis AI. The startup aims to overhaul the disjointed infrastructure of private credit management by deploying autonomous agents to handle manual data workflows.

Ellis functions as a centralized layer that integrates with existing software, spreadsheets, and document repositories. By connecting these disparate sources, the platform uses AI agents to automate routine tasks such as portfolio monitoring, report preparation, and month-end bookkeeping. Rather than forcing firms to abandon their current tech stacks, the system identifies data discrepancies and streamlines the reconciliation process. Williams emphasizes that human oversight remains central to the model, positioning the software as an efficiency tool to filter noise and accelerate decision-making rather than a replacement for human judgment.
