Kyle Godfrey pivots to film as Everbloom backs Prime Capitol expansion

A seven-figure investment from Everbloom is fueling Canadian creator Kyle Godfrey’s transition from YouTube stardom to cinema, marked by the release of his psychological horror short, Simon Says. The project serves as a strategic proof of concept for a potential feature film franchise built on established digital intellectual property.

Godfrey, the force behind the 14-million-subscriber Stromedy channel, co-directed the film alongside Jake Dufner. Shot in Toronto over four days, the production centers on a group of friends trapped in a deadly game orchestrated by the franchise’s signature character, a mysterious clown named Simon. By leveraging the existing Stromedy audience—which has tallied over 3.5 billion views—Godfrey aims to bridge the gap between viral digital content and traditional narrative film.

The capital injection from Everbloom provides more than just financial runway; the firm will join Prime Capitol Entertainment’s executive team to offer strategic support for future film and television slates. Brendan Alper, co-founder of Everbloom, described the move as an attempt to cultivate the next major horror franchise by capitalizing on the transition of independent creators into the broader entertainment industry. Simon Says is currently available for streaming on both YouTube and Tubi.
