SpaceX Hosts Free Community Day at Brownsville Children's Museum

With the school year looming, the Children’s Museum of Brownsville is opening its doors for a final summer celebration on Saturday, August 8. Thanks to a sponsorship from SpaceX, the day-long event invites local families to explore interactive exhibits and the company’s own Boca Chica to Mars display free of charge.

From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the museum will host the "Blast Off Before School Starts" event, featuring family activities and direct access to space-themed programming. SpaceX representatives will be on-site to engage with attendees, highlighting the intersection between local innovation and the future of space travel. The museum’s Boca Chica to Mars exhibit serves as the centerpiece, offering children a hands-on look at rocket science and the ongoing development projects nearby.

Felipe Peña III, executive director of the museum, noted the importance of the partnership in providing local families with accessible educational opportunities. While admission is free, the museum will operate on a first-come, first-served basis due to capacity limits. Organizers remind visitors that while entry is covered by the sponsorship, food and additional vendor purchases remain at the attendee's expense. Adults must be accompanied by a child to gain entry.
