Build-A-Bear Capitalizes on Internet Spider Craze for Halloween Line

Jumping spiders, the unlikely stars of recent viral social media trends, have officially entered the toy aisle. Build-A-Bear Workshop launched its 2026 "Spooky Stuff You Love" collection on August 6, featuring a plush arachnid designed to turn a niche internet fascination into a customizable retail experience.

The new Jumping Spider serves as the centerpiece for this year’s seasonal rollout, available both online and at physical locations. Guests can personalize the plush through the brand’s signature process, adding specific sounds, scents, and miniature outfits to their creations. The collection also includes a range of smaller Mini Beans collectibles and bag charms featuring the spider.

Chief Executive Officer Chris Hurt noted that the company is blending new characters with established seasonal staples to drive engagement. Returning items include the Posable Bat and the larger Giant Posable Bat, alongside the Mystical Werewolf and the Vault Collection Pumpkin Pal Teddy. The assortment is rounded out by festive feline designs and the Owloween Cauldron Mashimal, a continuation of the brand’s summer-launched line. These products arrive as the St. Louis-based retailer looks to maintain momentum following a record-breaking 2025 fiscal year, during which the company reported $529.8 million in total revenues.
