From October 20–23, the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville will host the annual Equip Exposition, the landscaping industry’s largest trade show. This year, organizers are doubling down on accessibility, offering a robust slate of technical and leadership training sessions in Spanish to support the industry's diverse, global workforce.
The event serves as a central hub for contractors, crew leaders, and field employees to test the latest outdoor power equipment while sharpening their business acumen. With nearly 30,000 attendees recorded last year, the trade show provides a platform for professionals to exchange strategies on turfgrass management, irrigation, and pest control.
A key focus this year is the transition from manual labor to management. Armando Actis, an equipment manager for Landscape Illinois, will lead a workshop titled "From Worker to Leader," designed to teach foremen how to communicate effectively, motivate teams, and maintain customer relationships. Complementing these leadership modules, Dr. Manuel Chavarria of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will conduct technical courses on turfgrass cultural practices and weed management.
"Landscaping is powered by hardworking professionals from many cultures and communities," said Kris Kiser, President and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute. To ensure these resources are accessible, the event website and mobile app feature a dedicated "Taught in Spanish" track. Beyond classrooms, participants gain access to a 30-acre Outdoor Demo Yard, allowing them to operate machinery before making capital investments.
