Taoping Launches Smart Elevator Insurance Pilot in Tianjin

Targeting a 20% cut in maintenance costs, Taoping Inc. has launched a pilot program in Tianjin that merges real-time sensor monitoring with insurance coverage. The initiative, run by the company’s subsidiary Skyladder Technology and the People's Insurance Company of China, aims to consolidate fragmented elevator service models into one platform.

Taoping Launches Smart Elevator Insurance Pilot in Tianjin

Traditional elevator management often splits maintenance, parts, and insurance among separate providers, creating gaps in safety and oversight. Taoping’s new model replaces this with a unified service architecture. At the core is the proprietary Elevator Insurance platform, which tracks operating conditions around the clock. By using sensor data to trigger maintenance before failures occur, the system aims to eliminate redundant repairs and ensure every stage of the process is documented.

Bin Ma, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Taoping, stated that the pilot validates the commercial potential of their technology while simplifying the experience for property managers. The timing aligns with a growing need for infrastructure updates in the region; according to the 2024 report from the Tianjin Municipal Committee for Market Regulation, the city manages more than 160,000 registered elevators. As this equipment ages, Taoping intends to use the Tianjin partnership as a foundation for broader market expansion.
