Massachusetts subsidizes vehicle-to-home energy stations for EV owners
Massachusetts homeowners driving specific bidirectional electric vehicles can now secure a dcbel Ara home energy station at no cost. The initiative, funded by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, aims to stabilize the state power grid while allowing residents to use their car batteries as reliable home energy backups.
To qualify for the fully subsidized hardware and installation, applicants must own or lease a 2018–2025 Nissan Leaf, a 2025 Polestar 3, or a 2025 Volvo EX90. Eligibility is restricted to those who do not currently have solar or home storage systems already installed. The program seeks to collect real-world performance data to inform future grid resiliency strategies across the state. Applications remain open through September 30, 2026, though funding is capped and spots are awarded on a first-come basis.
