Missouri Prepares for H.R. 1 Eligibility Shifts with SteadyIQ

Beginning January 1, 2027, the Missouri Department of Social Services will enforce stricter federal income and community engagement mandates under H.R. 1. To manage this transition, the state is deepening its five-year partnership with verification firm SteadyIQ to automate eligibility determinations and ensure program integrity for Medicaid and SNAP applicants.

Missouri Prepares for H.R. 1 Eligibility Shifts with SteadyIQ

The collaboration leverages SteadyIQ’s existing Income Passport technology, which Missouri previously adopted to track freelance and 1099 earnings. With the new federal requirements looming, the scope of this partnership is expanding to include comprehensive verification of work hours, job training participation, and volunteer service. According to Toi Wilde, Chief Information Officer for the Missouri Department of Social Services, the primary objective is to maintain accuracy and efficiency while providing eligibility workers with the tools necessary to communicate clearly with residents.

SteadyIQ leadership notes that Missouri’s specific regulatory needs have directly influenced the development of their verification suite. By integrating real-world feedback from state program teams, the company aims to streamline compliance processes for complex exemptions and work requirements. This strategy seeks to reduce administrative friction for both agency staff and benefit recipients as the state shifts toward the new federal framework.
