Stardock Challenges Windows 11 Defaults with AltTabby Switcher

The application moves beyond the traditional chronological list, offering over five distinct layout styles that can be adjusted for icon size, row configuration, and visual density. Users can now assign specific hotkeys to individual applications, bypassing the need to cycle through windows to locate a target program. This functionality allows for instant navigation, effectively treating desktop windows as pinned resources rather than temporary, shifting tasks.

General Manager Brad Sams noted that the core Alt+Tab experience has stagnated for decades while user habits have shifted significantly. AltTabby seeks to bridge that gap by providing deep customization, including intelligent grouping and search features. Currently in beta, the software is priced at $7.99—a temporary 20% discount from its standard $9.99 retail price—and supports up to five devices. It is also bundled within Stardock’s Object Desktop suite, maintaining the company's long-standing focus on desktop environment modification tools.
