CEO Daniel Alexus attributed the revenue decline to lower non-recurring engineering projects, which dropped 81.5% to $36,000. Conversely, core license revenues grew 9.2% to $0.4 million, bolstered by new agreements and sustained production ramp-ups from automotive customers. Operating expenses rose slightly to $2.8 million, driven by increased advertising and travel costs.

Neonode Reports Q2 Loss as Licensing Revenue Climbs
Stockholm-based Neonode reported a $2.1 million loss for the second quarter of 2026, even as the company shifted focus toward its software licensing business. While total revenue dipped 20.4% to $0.5 million, the firm saw a fivefold increase in MultiSensing license revenue compared to the same period last year.

Neonode finished the period with $21.7 million in cash and accounts receivable. According to the company, these reserves provide the necessary stability to continue developing its MultiSensing platform and securing commercial partnerships with automotive OEMs and tier 1 suppliers. The firm continues to prioritize converting ongoing technology evaluations into long-term licensing contracts.
