CollectivIQ introduces AI teammates designed for autonomous business roles

Boston-based startup CollectivIQ is moving beyond conversational chatbots with the launch of Digital Direct Reports, a new class of AI agents built to function as specialized employees. These systems are designed to hold specific job titles, integrate with enterprise software, and manage ongoing business responsibilities alongside human staff.

CollectivIQ introduces AI teammates designed for autonomous business roles

Unlike general-purpose models that respond to isolated queries, these AI teammates are assigned distinct identities and functional roles ranging from project managers and engineers to executive assistants. Each unit connects directly to corporate ecosystems like Microsoft 365, Atlassian Jira, and GitHub, allowing them to monitor workflows, track project risks, and execute routine administrative tasks without constant manual intervention.

CollectivIQ CEO John Davie frames this as a shift toward proactive labor, where intelligence performs the duties of a junior employee rather than serving as a simple search tool. By maintaining persistent context on user preferences and past performance, these agents aim to reduce the repetitive burden on human workers. Early adopters, including Mohegan Gaming, are currently testing the platform to automate tasks like supply chain tracking and inventory management.

To address corporate security concerns, the platform includes governance features that allow for human-in-the-loop approvals and detailed audit trails. The system is designed to operate within existing enterprise infrastructure, preventing the need for employees to pivot between disparate software environments. The service is available immediately to organizations looking to delegate execution-heavy workflows to specialized AI counterparts.
