The expansion of digital learning, fueled by high internet penetration and the demand for flexible education, has created a lucrative target for content thieves. VdoCipher, a video hosting provider, reports a surge in demand for security tools as platforms struggle to safeguard their intellectual property. The company integrates Google Widevine and Apple FairPlay DRM alongside dynamic watermarking and device-level access controls to ensure that only authorized users can access course materials.
Beyond basic encryption, the focus has shifted toward active detection. VdoCipher’s engine tracks suspicious viewing behaviors to identify leaks before they propagate across piracy networks. For instance, a finance education platform serving 45,000 students recently implemented these safeguards after losing proprietary trading content to online distributors. Following the deployment of viewer tracking and DRM, the firm successfully scaled its operations to 9,200 subscribers and 320 corporate clients.
