The litigation centers on claims that Microvast and its officers provided inaccurate information about the company’s financial health and operational progress. Specifically, plaintiffs allege the firm failed to disclose significant inventory management issues and delays in customer vehicle rollouts, while simultaneously promising a strategic shift toward more profitable market segments.
Scrutiny intensified following a June 2025 report by short seller Grizzly Research, which accused the company of fabricating aspects of its business, including the activity levels at its Huzhou facility. Internal instability also marked the period, as the company cycled through multiple chief financial officers within three years. Investors pointed to discrepancies between management’s public assurances and subsequent disclosures, such as the delayed launch of the Huzhou Phase 3.2 expansion and a sharp decline in gross margins reported in early 2026. Microvast shares suffered several sharp declines following these revelations, culminating in a significant drop in March 2026 when the company missed revenue estimates by a wide margin.
