Eco Wave Power advances Porto wave energy project as breakwater repairs begin
The Barra do Douro breakwater in Porto is undergoing essential rehabilitation, a development that clears the path for Eco Wave Power to install its first megawatt-scale wave energy station. The infrastructure repairs, managed by port authority APDL, serve as the required prerequisite for the company to begin its deployment.
Beyond administrative coordination, the visit will focus on establishing a local supply chain. Braverman intends to meet with various Portuguese subcontractors specializing in civil engineering, steel fabrication, and hydraulic systems. Engaging local firms is a core component of the company's strategy to scale its proprietary technology from pilot operations to a broader commercial deployment. The current project represents the first phase of an agreement that could eventually see 20 MW of wave energy capacity developed at the site.
