Spyker Returns to Its Roots with the C8 Preliator XXV Coupé

At The Quail during Monterey Car Week, Spyker unveiled the C8 Preliator XXV Coupé, a hand-built hypercar that signals a pivot for the 146-year-old Dutch marque. Limited to just 25 units, the vehicle marries traditional aluminum coachbuilding with a raw, 800-horsepower twin-turbo V8 and a defiant, fully manual transmission.

Spyker Returns to Its Roots with the C8 Preliator XXV Coupé

The C8 Preliator XXV Coupé represents an attempt to reconcile Spyker’s aviation-steeped history with the demands of modern performance. Eschewing the industry’s shift toward carbon fiber, the company insists on hand-worked aluminum, requiring approximately 2,100 hours of labor per chassis. This artisanal approach is punctuated by aviation-inspired aesthetics, including NACA ducts, a prominent fin tail reminiscent of the 1919 C1 Aerocoque, and rear lights styled after fighter jet afterburners.

Under the hood, the car features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of exceeding 217 mph. By rejecting automated gearboxes in favor of a true manual, CEO Victor Muller aims to preserve a tactile, mechanical connection between driver and machine. This focus on analog control extends to the cockpit, where digital clutter is minimized in favor of turned aluminum finishes and hand-aligned screws.

This launch serves as the inaugural act for a revitalized Spyker under the co-ownership of Volodymyr Nosov. By pairing the marque’s heritage with the fintech and blockchain expertise of W Group, the leadership intends to modernize the brand's digital ecosystem and client engagement without diluting the mechanical purity of its vehicles. Following its debut at The Quail, the car will appear at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 16, marking what the company describes as the start of a new, long-term chapter for the legendary Dutch manufacturer.
