The expansion marks a significant shift for the company, which has been based in Vernon Hills since 2000. By centralizing inventory management, kitting, and shipping under one roof, the firm aims to streamline its logistics to better support its PreK-and-up curriculum and toy lines. The project brings 37 new full-time positions to the region and reaffirms the retention of 288 existing jobs.

hand2mind Consolidates Operations in New Vernon Hills Hub
Rising demand for hands-on educational tools has prompted hand2mind to anchor its future in a 698,360-square-foot facility at 100 S. Milwaukee Ave. The move, replacing the former American Hotel Register headquarters, consolidates four disparate sites into one, while securing the company’s long-term footprint in Lake County.

CEO Rick Woldenberg emphasized that the larger footprint provides a stronger foundation for the company’s growing customer base. The development, supported by the state’s Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, received backing from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Cushman & Wakefield managed the real estate transaction, while The Missner Group, Avgeris and Associates, and Wylie Capital led the build-to-suit construction.
