Pollo Campero Targets August 25 for Earthquake Relief Fundraiser

On Tuesday, August 25, Pollo Campero will donate 25% of sales from participating U.S. locations to Direct Relief. The initiative seeks to fund medical aid and long-term recovery efforts for communities in Venezuela and Colombia, following the devastating earthquakes that struck the regions on June 24 and August 10.

Healthcare providers in Venezuela have spent two months struggling with damaged infrastructure and disrupted services since the initial June 24 seismic event. The subsequent earthquake in Colombia on August 10 has further strained resources, prompting the restaurant chain to leverage its national footprint for aid. Customers can participate by mentioning the fundraiser at checkout in any participating store.

Direct Relief has already committed 11 tons of medical supplies and $400,000 in emergency grants to the affected areas. Karla Patino, vice president of marketing and sales at Pollo Campero, noted that the initiative aims to provide the sustained support necessary for families facing a lengthy recovery process. Jennifer Lotito, chief external affairs officer at Direct Relief, emphasized that the partnership serves as a vital bridge between corporate resources and humanitarian needs. The campaign reflects a broader effort to maintain visibility for the ongoing crisis among the U.S. Hispanic community.
