Tierra Encantada Expands Spanish Immersion Preschools into Maryland
Mari Millard and Marnie Hammel, a duo of seasoned multi-unit operators with 10 existing franchise locations, have signed a three-unit area development agreement with Tierra Encantada. This deal marks the debut of the Spanish immersion early education brand in Maryland, signaling a strategic shift for the partners into the childcare sector.

The choice to partner with Tierra Encantada stems from the brand's focus on play-based STEAM learning and its established business model. For the franchisor, attracting experienced operators like Millard and Hammel is a key component of its national growth strategy. Tierra Encantada currently operates 21 centers with 47 additional locations in development, boasting an average unit volume of $2.6 million for centers open at least two years. By entering the Maryland market, the company aims to leverage the state’s reputation as a high-growth environment for franchise businesses.
