Peabody Energy Investors Face August 24 Deadline in Fraud Lawsuit

Investors who lost over $100,000 in Peabody Energy Corporation stock between October 2024 and May 2026 have until August 24 to apply for lead plaintiff status. A class action lawsuit alleges the company misled shareholders regarding the operational status and production delays at its Centurion mine.

Peabody Energy Investors Face August 24 Deadline in Fraud Lawsuit

The litigation centers on claims that Peabody Energy issued overly optimistic statements while concealing material issues at the Centurion facility. These undisclosed challenges reportedly hindered the mine's ramp-up and delayed its return to full longwall production. The discrepancy became public on March 30, 2026, when the company slashed its first-quarter output guidance for the site from 700,000 tons to approximately 250,000 tons, citing commissioning difficulties. This downward revision triggered a decline in share value, leading to the current legal challenge.

Rosen Law Firm, which is representing the class, notes that while the lawsuit has been filed, a class has not yet been certified. Investors who purchased stock during the specified period may seek representation or remain absent class members. Those interested in assuming a lead role in the proceedings must file their motions with the court by the August 24 deadline. Interested parties may contact attorney Phillip Kim at 866-767-3653 or via the firm's online portal.
