To support development, up to 50 selected projects will receive AWS compute grants, with the foundation encouraging the use of the recently released Cloud Optimized OpenCV Library, which can deliver up to a 1.5x processing speedup on Graviton-based infrastructure.

Backed by Amazon Web Services, the challenge offers $12,000 in total prizes and compute grants to teams aiming to advance fields from healthcare diagnostics to industrial automation.
Entries will be judged by an independent panel of industry and academic experts on criteria including technical execution, innovation, and documentation quality. While participants retain all intellectual property rights, the foundation encourages open-source releases. The competition build phase runs from August 26 through October 26, 2026, with top honors—including a $5,000 first-place award and two $1,000 special focus prizes—to be announced in November.
