Luma Health Updates AI Platform to Streamline Patient Intake

San Francisco-based Luma Health has unveiled a suite of AI-driven tools designed to bridge the gap between remote patient preparation and in-clinic workflows. By integrating pre-visit tasks with real-time floor management, the platform aims to reduce administrative burdens and shorten wait times for patients across North American healthcare systems.

Luma Health Updates AI Platform to Streamline Patient Intake

The summer 2026 release expands the capabilities of Luma’s Operational AI, focusing on automating the transition from home-based self-service to on-site check-in. New features include a conversational AI agent that prompts patients to settle outstanding balances before arrival and a customizable Check-In Builder that allows facilities to manage diverse patient streams, including walk-ins and lab appointments, through kiosks or mobile QR codes. Marcelo Oliveira, Chief Product and Technology Officer, noted that the software aims to eliminate the reliance on fragmented tools and manual whiteboards, allowing staff to focus on direct patient care.

Operational efficiency gains are already visible in clinical settings. Wooster Community Hospital in Ohio has utilized the system to process 28,000 patient check-ins since February 2026. Meanwhile, Sault Area Hospital in Ontario reported a 53% reduction in the 90th percentile time to first assessment in their emergency department. By implementing a Virtual Home Waiting Room and the Queue Manager dashboard, the hospital allows non-acute patients to wait remotely, significantly easing congestion. All new features remain compliant with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II, and HITRUST AI Security standards, with plans to expand specialized support for urgent care and emergency departments in the coming months.
