Latitude Launches Voyage to Bring Persistent Worlds to AI Roleplay

San Francisco-based Latitude has officially opened its second-generation AI roleplay platform, Voyage, to the public across iOS, Android, and web browsers. By moving beyond simple text-adventure loops, the platform introduces a dedicated World Engine designed to maintain narrative consistency and persistent game states for multiplayer sessions.

The platform distinguishes itself from first-generation AI experiences—which often struggle to track long-term consequences—by decoupling world simulation from creative improvisation. While early AI roleplay relied on a single model to both manage the environment and narrate events, Voyage splits these tasks. The World Engine tracks variables, characters, and mechanics, allowing the AI to focus exclusively on storytelling. This architecture enables features previously unattainable in generative gaming, including stable visuals, structured quest arcs, and multiplayer coordination where the engine resolves individual actions against a unified world state.

"Players kept asking us for things we couldn't make work, an experience that could actually challenge you, characters that remembered what you did, and quests with compelling story arcs," said Nick Walton, CEO and founder of Latitude. "The World Engine simulates the world and keeps track of what happens, and then the AI turns that into the story." Creators now have granular control over NPCs, combat systems, and environmental aesthetics, moving beyond the unpredictable nature of earlier, purely improvisational models. The platform is currently available for free on public servers supporting up to eight players, with subscription options available for private server hosting.
