The company’s new quality standards address a tightening hardware market, specifically targeting memory-hungry processes to preserve performance on consumer devices facing dwindling component availability.

To facilitate this transition, developers gain access to new diagnostic tools, including a Memory Limiter feature designed to flag excessive resource consumption. While these tools provide immediate feedback, the deadline for full compliance is February 2027. Beyond performance metrics, Google is also standardizing the user experience during device migrations. By April 2027, all apps utilizing sign-in features must support the Android Restore Credentials API, ensuring that authentication states persist automatically when users transition to new hardware.
