A federal grant of $5.2 million will transform an eight-acre plot in Eustis, Florida, into a specialized workforce development center. Backed by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, the facility aims to bridge the region’s widening labor gap by training hundreds of new commercial drivers and electrical lineworkers.
Lake-Sumter State College President John Temple noted that the facility will leverage the institution's 95% job placement rate in technical fields to ensure graduates secure high-wage positions immediately upon completion. The center is designed with modular space to allow for future curriculum expansion, ensuring that the training provided remains responsive to the evolving needs of the Central Florida utility and logistics sectors.
