The race, a 200-kilometer test through Fairmount Park, saw Team Novo Nordisk aggressively dictate the pace from the start. After early efforts by teammates Sam Brand and Quinten De Graeve were neutralized, Lozano joined a seven-rider breakaway that held a lead of over 90 seconds for much of the afternoon. While he narrowly missed the top spot on the first ascent, he proceeded to sweep the remaining climbs at the Wall and Lemon Hill to lock in the classification.

Lozano’s performance carries personal weight: diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 22, his initial professional career was cut short by his former team. Joining Team Novo Nordisk provided a second act that has now spanned 14 seasons. CEO Phil Southerland noted that seeing a rider with diabetes stand on the podium alongside the world’s best serves as a demonstration of what is possible for those living with the condition. While Tim Torn Teutenberg of Lidl-Trek secured the overall victory, the day was defined by the tactical persistence of the Novo Nordisk squad.
