The succession concludes a formal process initiated by the company in January 2025, when Parcher was appointed president of Civista Bank. During this period, Parcher worked alongside Shaffer to manage the bank’s strategic direction, preparing for the handover of daily operations. Parcher, who joined the firm in 2016, brings 38 years of industry experience, including previous leadership roles at FirstMerit, Sky Bank, and Huntington Bank.

Shaffer leaves the executive suite following a tenure defined by consistent financial growth and a focus on maintaining the institution's independence. In his new capacity as Chairman, he will continue to advise the board, ensuring continuity for the organization, which traces its roots back to 1884. Parcher’s appointment marks a commitment to the firm’s long-standing model of community-focused banking across Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.
