Gemtek and Dixon Scale Optical Manufacturing in India

By merging Taiwanese photonic integration with large-scale Indian manufacturing, Gemtek Technology and Dixon Technologies are accelerating production of high-speed optical components. The venture targets the surging demand for 800G and 1.6T connectivity infrastructure as AI-driven data centers and global telecommunications networks expand their bandwidth requirements.

Gemtek and Dixon Scale Optical Manufacturing in India

The partnership focuses on the production of optical transceivers and bidirectional optical sub-assemblies (BOSA) within India. By integrating Gemtek’s research in photonic development with Dixon’s established supply-chain network, the companies aim to build a platform capable of serving both local and international markets. This move aligns with India's push to localize the manufacturing of critical telecom hardware while simultaneously diversifying Gemtek’s global production footprint to enhance supply-chain resilience.

Technological development remains at the center of this roadmap, with current portfolios spanning from 1G to 1.6T solutions. These components are designed to support the heavy data loads required by modern cloud providers and AI infrastructure. Gemtek plans to showcase its latest advancements in high-speed optical connectivity at the India Mobile Congress in New Delhi, scheduled for October 7–10, 2026.
